remarkable job of coordinating all the work and managing to finish the entire project before the original completion date.

This is the 2nd timein recent years  that Curran has been recognized by the the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority for exemplary accomplishment.
. . .
The first was in 1994 for its involvement in resurfacing portions of the Tri-State Tollway as part of a joint venture between Curran Contracting, Bolander Construction, and Peter Baker. Curran received an Outstanding Performance Award for it’s role on that project.

Paving 17 miles of 4-lane interstate highway is a major undertaking in and of itself, by any standard. But working within specific Authority- required constraints of nighttime paving only, daily mandatory lane accessability, and significant imposed project deadlines all made accomplishing this task that much more so.

The project Required removal of existing 3" asphalt overlay, concrete pavement repair, 1" STRATA Reflective Crack Relief System, 3" bituminous overlay 11-foot bituminous concrete shoulder removal and replacement with 7" new bituminous concrete shoulder 11 feet wide on 17 miles of I-90, a divided 4-lane highway. Total tonnage for the project was over 220,000 tons. Work was only allowed to be completed from Sunday night to Thursday night. State Toll Highway Authority requested that traffic lanes be opened every day and that lane closures would only be allowed at night. This change was due to the extreme traffic back-ups caused by only one lane of traffic being available Monday through Thursday. The Tollway wanted to reduce the traffic back-ups for the benefit of their "customers" -- the Illinois and Wisconsin driving public. Contractors had to rearrange schedules and reallocate crews to complete all work only at night and reopen the lanes during the day. Through effective project management, this was accomplished, eliminating the traffic back-ups during the day, and the project was still completed before the original October 31 completion date.
. . .  This was a very challenging project for Curran and Rock Road. Weather, traffic and trucking issues were constants that had to be dealt with. Many nights the paving contractors had over 120 trucks on the job – either delivering asphalt or hauling away millings. Our project managers, superin- tendents, and foreman did a
